This policy explains what personal information Shallcross Consulting ("we", "us") collects when you buy a GitPerennial license, and what happens to it. It covers the purchase process only. The GitPerennial application itself is covered separately below.
The short version. We do not run a service that holds your data. GitPerennial runs entirely on your own computer. The only personal information we ever receive is what you enter at checkout, which our payment processor (Stripe) collects to process the payment and which we use to send you your license key and receipt. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we share it only with the two providers needed to complete your purchase.
GitPerennial is self-hosted software. It runs on your machine, stores its data in a local database on your machine, and talks only to GitHub's API using your own access token, for your own repositories. It does not phone home, send us telemetry or analytics, or transmit your repository data, your GitHub token, or any usage information to us or to anyone else. License verification happens offline on your computer after a one-time activation.
When you buy a license through our storefront, checkout is handled by Stripe. Stripe collects and we receive:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To send your license key and receipt, and for support and key-recovery requests. |
| Your name and, if provided, business name | Shown on your receipt; used to identify your purchase if you contact support. |
| Billing address and phone number (if collected at checkout) | Payment verification and fraud prevention by Stripe; shown on your receipt. |
| Payment card details | Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — only the card brand and last four digits, which appear on your receipt. |
| Stripe transaction identifiers (checkout session, payment intent) | To match a payment to a license, prevent a refreshed receipt page from issuing a second license, and resolve support requests. |
We do not use your information for marketing, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not run advertising or third-party analytics on the storefront.
Only the providers required to complete and support your purchase:
| Provider | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing | All checkout information, including payment details. Governed by Stripe's own privacy policy. |
| Keygen | License issuance and storage | Your email address and the Stripe transaction ids, attached to your license record. When you activate GitPerennial on a computer, a one-way fingerprint of that machine and its host name. No payment details. |
| Our email provider | Sending your license key and receipt | Your email address and the contents of the receipt email. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim. We do not sell personal information to anyone.
We keep the records needed to support your license and meet accounting and tax obligations for as long as those obligations require (typically several years), and then delete or anonymise them. Stripe and Keygen retain data according to their own policies. You can ask us to delete the information we hold about your purchase, subject to any records we are legally required to keep.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about your purchase, to object to or restrict certain processing, or to receive a copy of it. To exercise any of these, or to ask a question about this policy, contact us:
We will respond within a reasonable time. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
The storefront and these policy pages do not set cookies or use tracking or analytics. The Stripe checkout page, which is hosted by Stripe, uses cookies that are necessary for payment processing and fraud prevention; those are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
GitPerennial is a tool for software developers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, except where the mandatory data-protection law of your own country or state provides otherwise.
